Marketing yourself – the challenges of being self-employed!

women fear the fire

Establishing yourself in business is nerve-wracking!  It’s one thing to complete a course in a subject about which you are passionate, or train in a therapy, but a whole different ballgame to acquire all the other skills that are necessary when starting a business.   We both became doulas because we were passionate about supporting women and had a complete love and fascination of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.  We didn’t necessarily have innate skills in accountancy, administration, marketing or networking, all of which are essential when running a business.  We have had to learn these along the way, with much support from other valued colleagues in business.  When doulas complete our Doula Preparation Course we want to continue to support and nurture them on their journey as they establish their businesses, so we are delighted that Naava Carman has come on board to provide a Marketing Day for any complementary health professional looking to find more confidence and ability in promoting themselves.

Naava is an incredibly well-respected Doula and Director of the Fertility Support Company, providing acupuncture and herbal medicine.  She describes her Marketing Day as a” Practical and Emotional Guide to Making Your Living”. Having run successfully in North London before, the study day is returning twice in the coming months – on Saturday 12th November in Golders Green, and Saturday 14th January in Worcestershire.
