My name is Doreen Munroe, mum to 3 wonderful young women and grandmother to 3 beautiful and amazing girls (aged 1 year, 3 years and 6 years old). My heart skips a beat each time I think about them.
I read an article recently by Rachel Marie Martin which she entitled ‘The Brave Art of Motherhood’. Rachel had gone through a lot in her life but she had ‘come out the other end’ as we often say. One of the things I remember most from the article is where she said “Don’t worry about the mistakes, just live with Joy, live alive”
As a Doula I’d like to help you on that journey of motherhood. To have a positive antenatal, birthing and postnatal experience and to enjoy that Brave Art of Motherhood, living with Joy – even on the hard days.
I want you to know that in this journey into motherhood, whether it be for the first time or the umpteenth time, you are not alone, and I would count it a privilege to accompany you on that journey.
I have plenty of experience in birth as I have attended several births while volunteering at my local maternity hospitals. I have been present at C-Sections, Water birth, forceps assisted and natural births and each time I have been honoured to be a part of the journeys these mums have been on. I was also present at the birth of my first granddaughter, which was a very special experience for me.
I have also been very involved in supporting my daughters during their postnatal period, encouraging them whether they have chosen to breast feed or bottle feed. The early days can be stressful for new mums and so I am always at the end of the phone for those times when encouragement is needed or questions need answered.
I am also a qualified First Aid trainer and am willing to demonstrate the skills needed for CPR or choking etc to my clients.
