I am a Recognised Birth Doula and KG hypnobirthing teacher and live in Haslemere, Surrey, with my husband and some of my (5) children. I heard about doulas for the first time in 2010 and after doing some research about what they do I signed up to do a Nurturing Birth course in 2011. The ethos of a doula sat very comfortably with my own belief that childbirth is a natural process which, given the right environment, tools and emotional support, most women are able to come through hopefully with memories of a primitive and wonderful experience to treasure all their lives. The sense of achievement can be extraordinary and this should be available to all women so it is with this belief that I feel able to share this part of a family’s journey into parenthood is an absolute privilege. I can offer help in the form of either practical help, emotional support (probably both in varying amounts) and non-judgmental advice during the build-up to the birth and the immediate post-natal period as everyone adjusts to their new addition.
