My personal ethos is that you, the mother, have the power in your hands. It is important for you to get the support you need at the right time and know that you have a right to choose what to do with your body. Your voice matters and it is important to let your voice be heard. I will do all I can to help you find your voice and implement your choices.
I live in Stockwell, South West London and can support clients within an hour from my home. Currently I work as a Health Care Assistant at the Royal Brompton Hospital. I work as a Bank Staff which means my time is flexible and I will have time for my own family, this role and my doula clients.
Before this I worked at Whittington Hospital as a Nursing Assistant on the Maternity Ward and I loved it! It was in this role that I gained experience with nurturing babies with the addition to my personal experience. I love my job but I feel my main passion, commitment and focus now lies with being a Doula. My colleagues describe me as having a warm, calming personality. You, as the mother, and your baby are my priority.
I am being mentored by one of the Nurturing Birth mentor team.
As your Doula I offer antenatal support, for example accompanying you to appointments, talking through labour and your birth wishes and the post natal period. I will go on call for you two weeks before you Estimated Due Date and stay on call until your baby arrives. During my time as your Doula I will be there with you during your birth to support you or be at the end of the phone to answer any concerns you may have.
I do not give advice but can signpost you to information. If I do not know the answer to one of your questions I will find it out for you. I offer practical and emotional support.
I will be available to you. I can assist with older siblings where necessary and accompany you to support groups such as breastfeeding groups. I can take care of the baby in your home while you sleep.
If anyone criticises your choices I will speak up for you politely and create space for you to share again and be heard.
