My aim is to offer you, and your partner/family support leading up to your baby’s birth, during labour and those first unknown weeks at home. Whether you are having a hospital birth, water birth, VBAC I can provide you with unbiased information to help you make the right choices for you and your family.
My Birth Package includes at least two antenatal and two postnatal visits; 24hour on call from 38 weeks; effective support, during labour and birth; help in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding, and providing confidence and information at each stage. I offer massage during labour and support deep breathing and relaxation to help manage contractions.
Antenatal sessions include preparing a Birth Plan, ensuring all baby equipment and necessities are discussed, hospital bag, explaining when I will come, how we will travel to birth unit and the best ways to labour in the early stages and manage pain without drugs, if this is your choice. Not everyone wants this and I will go through the options, explaining how they work.
I have an extensive reading library and tens machine that I am happy to lend clients.
Once booked I am easily contactable by phone or email and will always respond promptly.
Hi I am Nina, I live with my husband and three teenage children. I trained in 2012 to be a Doula through Nurturing Birth and I am Doula UK recognized, I supported women through their pregnancies and labour for five years before becoming a ‘qualified’ doula. I am an energetic person, but at the same time have been told that I have a calming presence. I am extremely passionate about pregnancy and birth. Before deciding on this exciting career, I trained and worked as a psychologist.
I live in Golders Green North West London and have worked at The Royal Free, Queen Charlottes, Barnet, Watford, UCH, St Mary’s Hospital Paddington, and The Portland. I currently volunteer on the postnatal ward at the Royal Free offering breastfeeding support to new mothers.
‘Nina was such a warm loving person to have around during my labour and after birth. She helped me achieve the birth that I had hoped for and I felt empowered and able to cope with it all. I will forever be grateful that Nina was there to support my husband and myself!! ‘
‘I have now had the privilege of having Nina attend the births of both my babies. With both of my pregnancies I had planned to have a natural delivery that then ended up with me having a c-section. Nina helped me stay calm and relaxed through both. She helped explain what was happening and remained a constant source of encouragement at one of my most vulnerable times. Nina was also very conscious to check that both I was ok as well as the baby. It was only thanks to Nina that a midwife was called when my baby’s heart rate dropped to dangerous levels as nobody else had noticed.
I really believe my birthing experiences was as positive as they were due to Nina being there and would not consider another birth without her… And to top it all off I have the best pictures to help remember the moments when my amazing son and daughter came into this world!’
‘Thank you for everything Nina, we’re so glad you played such an instrumental part in the safe and very happy arrival of our little angel. Thanks for all of your help and support following the birth, it really was so reasurring having you around and we are so very grateful.’
