Hi, I’m a mentored birth and postnatal doula and also a hypnobirthing teacher. I’m based in Hull and cover East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. As a former midwife with almost twenty years extensive experience I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend and support many births, from the normal physiological to the very medicalised. I use all the knowledge and skills I gained as a midwife, as a hypnobirthing teacher and doula to ensure that I provide the very best and most current information regarding pregnancy and birth. This is presented in a clear and unbiased way so that you can make your own informed decisions and take control of your birth.
I love to teach hypnobirthing to small groups or on a one to one basis. To witness how it empowers, raises confidence and self belief is incredibly rewarding. We know that birth can be unpredictable so I don’t promise a pain free birth but I can promise that whatever twists and turns your birth presents you with, hypnobirthing will help you remain calm, positive and help you achieve the best birth possible.
My doula training with Nurturing Birth means that I can provide emotional and practical support during the antenatal period and through the birth itself, enabling parents to make informed choices about their care, signposting relevant research-based information and being a reassuring presence. I offer at least 2 antenatal appointments when we can discuss any fears or expectations you may have regarding the birth. I will be available 24 hours a day from 38 weeks gestation onwards and present throughout your birth. Postnatally, I am able to provide support as the new mother learns how to respond to her baby’s needs, recovers from the birth and finds her feet. This may include light housework, picking up older children from school or breastfeeding support.
I have practiced clinical aromatherapy for 15 years and am a member of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists. This means that I can support both my hypnobirthing and doula roles with effective massage techniques and essential oils that can benefit you during your pregnancy, birth and beyond.
I am a mother of two and soon to be a grandma for the first time. I love everything to do with pregnancy and birth. I’ve worked as a midwife for almost twenty years. Most of my career was spent on a Birthing Suite where I was so lucky to have supported hundreds of families in welcoming their babies.
I enjoy volunteering and spend any spare time I have volunteering as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and facilitate the Positive Birth Movement. Hull.
I love walking in the country, knitting, crochet and fermenting foods.
