Personal Introduction:

Christian Doula in Bristol.
I love to walk alongside people, supporting them in their journey. As a doula I do this through conception and fertility journeys, IVF journeys, loss, pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period in whatever ways is most helpful or needed for the individual or couple. Much of my experience has been walking with people of faith who want to have support in bringing spirituality, prayer and important faith aspects to their journey. I have also worked with clients of different faiths to my own, or no faith. Much of this support can be provided online if we are not in the same area.

Antenatal: Providing spaces to talk about anxieties, helping you to prepare for birth and beyond, or to think through your birthing options, are some of the ways I seek to do this. If your faith is important to you, I can encourage you with ways of bringing that into what can be a sacred and spiritual space of pregnancy and birth. I am also a qualified hypnobirthing teacher and run private and group courses online and in person.

Birth: I would love to offer the support you need, to be empowered to have the birth you want, and feel is right for YOU. I will commit to walking with you in that, and helping you prepare.

Postnatal: Practical and emotional support post-birth is such a valuable and much needed thing- whether it’s your first or fourth time. Having a bit of extra support, even if you have plenty of family and friends to call on, can be just what you need at a potentially fragile and exhausting time. This could look like helping around the home, looking after your baby while you nap, or debriefing and processing your birth/pregnancy experience. You don’t need to do it alone!
I am passionate about women and couples having positive pregnancy, birth and postnatal experiences and want to do all I can to support and empower you to equip yourselves as you begin this precious journey.

I also run regular prayer retreats on zoom, which provide space to rest and connect with God in your pregnancy, and the postnatal period too. (see website for details!)

About me:
I am a Mum of 2 girls, living in Bristol. I also study theology as I am currently training for Church of England ordination. I love to see the interweaving of my callings, birth and the spiritual and sacred. I also love creativity, dance, sewing and being by the sea!

If you would like to chat on the phone to see if I could be the right doula for you, please just get in touch. You can also see packages available on my website, with costs.

‘We felt so lucky to have Helena with us following the birth. The combination of her peaceful, calming presence and practical support gave us confidence as we settled into our role as new parents.’
(Isabel 2021)

Helena is response led, and client led. She is very present, is an incredible listener and asks good questions. She supported me, my mum and partner. After the birth Helena was incredible. I felt a deep trust with her and found it easy to let her take my baby out while I slept. I felt listened to, understood and empowered.
(Grace 2021)

Helena's been such a unique help in my preparation for birth. So calm and reassuring, so gentle she was and she brought very well suited topics and activities for my personality and requests. Absolutely lovely experience, definitely recommend to anyone wanting a prayerful, calm and sensitive preparation for birth! (Ilona, 2022)
