Considering a pain relief-free birth? How can doulas help? A Video Blog…

Are you considering a pain relief-free birth? It can be off-putting when people dismiss this as an option, and worrying when they say things like, “You’ll be screaming for them when the time comes”! And yet there are many reasons why avoiding pain relief in your birth could lead to a better experience for some women or people.

It is important to note that relief from pain is a Human Right, and pain relief in labour must never be taboo, nor should women feel that they “should” give birth in one way or another. Knowledge is power, and when you know how pain relief may impact on your body, you can make an informed decision about what is right for you. Remember that you can always change your mind about pain relief so if you know in advance what the effects may be, you can decide on the day what you want or don’t want.
