Personal Introduction:
I’m Candy, I am in my sixties and live near West Malling, Kent.
My Doula journey started a few years ago when my 3 year old Grandson asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I found myself saying “midwife”. It really got me thinking, it seemed too late to start such medical training but then I met a couple of fascinating Birth Doulas. This led me to Nurturing Birth and their excellent training course.
I have 3 sons and two step children and now 6 grandchildren.
I have years of experience supporting children and families, having opened and run my own Montessori nursery between 1998-2015. Since 2016 I have been a foster carer for Kent County Council, caring for children from 0 to 16 years old, recently caring for babies and under 5 years.
Underpinning all my work is practising compassionate communication (NVC Marshall Rosenberg) for many years which focuses on listening, empathy and being curious – “what I can do to make life more wonderful for you”.
I offer practical and emotional ante natal and post natal support, happy to travel up to an hour from ME6 and can offer flexible rates.
I would love to bring my training and compassion to support your experience.
