Personal Introduction:

Hello and congratulations, I’m Lisa, I’m a birth and postnatal doula, a wife and a mum of two wonderful boys. I live in West Wickham and support mums and families in Bromley and the surrounding areas.

I joined the world of motherhood by the unexpected route of IVF, both my boys started life thanks to the wonders of science. This highly emotional time opened my eyes to just how complex and wondrous our bodies are (even if they are not doing what we want them to be doing) and how vulnerable we are at this time of life. With this start of life journey, my pregnancies, births and postnatal experiences I realised just how much more continuous care, support and empowerment women need to feel secure, looked after and in control of their new beginnings and I really wanted to be a part of that.

My aim as a birth doula is to support you with compassion and respect, to listen and understand what is important to you, to help you feel prepared and empowered to have the best birth for you, whatever you choose. Supporting you practically, emotionally, physically and signposting you to reliable evidence based information enabling you to make informed decisions so that you can bring your baby into this world feeling a calm and quiet confidence.

Postnatally, I believe that approaching your 4th trimester with some dedicated planning before baby arrives is so beneficial for parents, thinking beyond birth can help to understand a little about what to expect and how you can come together as a partnership to support one another as well as discovering where other support may lie.

This early time can feel upside down but with our planning and my support, you will feel more in control. Support can be in many ways and is different for each family, it could be help with feeding baby, catching up on some well deserved sleep, and help with other children or to share some time to debrief your birth story and discuss any questions you may have over a cuppa. I will be there for you.

Lisa came and helped our family with our third child. I say helped our family because with her experience as a mum she was able to give a little to all of us, which she did gladly, with a smile and comforting demeanor. Although we didn’t need as much help making decisions as we had done previously, Lisa was very knowledgeable about what, when, why and also in giving suggestions and being supportive with anything we needed help with.
I wish we knew Lisa when we had our previous children, she would have been a huge asset. I can gladly recommend Lisa.
