Personal Introduction:

I am recognised birth doula and mentored postnatal doula. I also run baby massage classes, mother and baby yoga classes and a postnatal support group within Cheltenham.

About me

I am a mother to two beautiful children and my fantastic experiences in becoming a mother have led me to where I am today. I discovered my own passion for birth through having my own children and the more I learn the more passionate I am about the care women receive and the part I can play in this. I feel so privileged to be able to spend so much time with my children, we love being out in the sun or muddy puddles, we love baking, creating and being with friends.

I am amazed by how incredible women are and want to share with everyone that birth shouldn’t be something to fear but to be embraced. I am saddened by how our culture undermines women’s ability to give birth; I believe women are more than capable to carry their baby, give birth and raise them. I have trained to become a birth and postnatal doula as I am so passionate about the care women receive and being able to support women in their birth choices as every woman is entitled to give birth in the way she feels most comfortable. I love to be able to offer continuous support from pregnancy, throughout labour and birth and then postnatally. Understanding that subtle differences made during birth can have a huge impact is something I passionately want to share with new families during their journey into parenthood.

I hope to be able to help couples prepare for birth so they can be clear about the decisions which may be needed and release any anxiety which may inhibit birth. I feel very privileged to be able to share with a couple as they become a family. I am a breastfeeding peer supporter and am able to support and offer help where needed; I have breastfed both my children into toddlerhood. As a postnatal doula I love the ability to mother the mother and meet her needs as she transitions into motherhood.

Sarah was great! We met her and she was clearly knowledgable as well as friendly. I had a doula for my 2 previous home births so I knew what I was looking for:
Someone I could trust to advocate for me if the need arose
Someone who understood my wishes
Who could bring suggestions even though this was my third baby
Sarah met my requirements and got on well with my partner. During the birth she watched me and gave me space to do my own thing. She looked for what I might need including refreshments and homeopathy. She paid attention to my partner and made sure he was ok too. She held me when my partner was not available and knew instinctively what positions would help. She was really helpful when we had to discuss going to hospital a few hours after the birth, talking through options with my partner and I, and the midwife. She visited us in hospital and after, and was in regular contact while we were in hospital, helping me to see what I could do during that difficult time. I highly recommend her and could not have asked for anything more from her.
