Personal Introduction:

My work as a birth doula includes: regular visits so that we get to know each other and build a relationship of trust; massage techniques and movements to learn as a couple and individually; accompanying you to appointments or exams if you so wish; support in the preparation of your birth preferences plan; support in gathering information and data on pregnancy, childbirth and parenting; supporting other siblings, being there with you at the birth and two postnatal visits. I am also always available by phone and from 38 weeks onwards I start my “on-call” period, meaning I am ready (and always checking my mobile) to come to you, if you go into labour.

My work as a postnatal doula includes: practical and emotional support for the family in general and the new mother in particular according to their individual needs. The aim is to make life with the new baby as smooth as possible. Helping with minor housekeeping tasks, meals, breastfeeding, other siblings, emotional support in debriefing the birth experience, recovery massage for mother and baby.

About me

I work with bellies. Bellies that dance, bellies that breed and carry life. I love how both Art and Motherhood can be sacred and transforming.
I have lived a bit all over the world and love how diferent cultures can enrich one´s experience of life. I was born in Brazil, lived most of my life in Macao in South China, and moved to Portugal about 10 years ago.
I regularly spend time in the UK, both because I have family there but also because it´s a place I really love.
I am married to a wonderful husband and have two lovely, mischievous little boys that really make me let go "girly ways" as they call it, get on all fours, wrestle and become the bad guy to their Spiderman... ;)

Qualifications:
I have a degree in acting and directing by the Theatre and Film School (ESTC) in Lisbon. In 2000 I began to complement my artistic training with dance, and developed a particular interest in bellydance that I currently teach.
I have two wonderful little boys. Motherhood made me aware of the role of art in the development of children, especially in very early childhood.
Becoming a Doula turned out to be a continuation of my journey and my discovery on how Art and Motherhood have a lot in common.
I trained as a birth and postnatal Doula in the UK with the organization Nurturing Birth. Since then I have been privileged to accompany several families in one of the most important time of their lives: welcoming a new member of the family.
In 2014 I co-founded the Portuguese Association for Women’s Rights in Pregnancy and Childbirth, of which I am currently president, a non-profit organization aimed at protecting women’s rights during pregnancy and childbirth by promoting respect for human rights.
All Nurturing Birth doulas have completed our approved preparation course and adhere to the Nurturing Birth code of ethics.
